Becoming A Client

Line

While we would love to work with everyone, in order to provide the best possible client experience we can only serve a limited number of people. Therefore, we don’t rush decisions about who to work with and we want to ensure the fit is mutual.

With that in mind, we've designed a three-step process to help you (and us) make an informed and educated decision about working together. This process can be done in person, virtually using videoconference, or through a combination of the two.

3 Valuable Answers

You'll finish with answers to three important questions about your finances.

Introductory Call

A 15-minute phone call to get to know one another and make sure our expertise matches your situation.

If we aren’t the right fit, we'll gladly point you to a resource or firm that's better suited to your needs.

First Meeting - Discovery

It’s important to diagnose before we prescribe.

The goal of this meeting is to get clear on your goals, concerns, and unique financial situation.

Your answers to our questions, along with the documents you provide, will guide our analysis. The result will be easy to understand answers to three important questions.

Second Meeting - Analysis

We apply our expertise and understanding of your unique situation to answer three important questions:

  • Where do you stand relative to your financial goals?
  • What can be done to bring you closer to your goals?
  • How can your investments be improved?

During this meeting, we provide answers to these questions and explain what's required to reach your financial goals. This is where you'll see exactly how we can help and what it would look like to work together.

At the end of this meeting, we'll ask you to take some time to think about whether you would like to begin working together. We want you to make an informed decision and we encourage you to take whatever time is necessary.

Step 4

Get Started

If we decide to work together, we'll regroup (either in-person or through videoconference) to answer any outstanding questions and start the process.

We'll walk through our client agreement, your investment policy statement, and the initial logistics of implementing your financial plan.

Schedule Your Intro Call

Throughout the process, there will never be a hard-sell or pressure to say yes. We acknowledge that we aren't going to be the best fit for everyone, and if that’s the case, we'll wish you the best and point you to a resource that's better-suited to your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dotted Line

How does MD Wealth Management make money?

We're a fee-only financial planning firm. This means we don’t receive commissions or sell products. The only way we’re compensated is through the one transparent fee our clients pay us each quarter. This fee covers the management of your investment accounts and all ongoing financial planning.

Some financial advisors make money through commissions from the investments they recommend or the products (like insurance) they sell. This may cause hidden fees or create unnecessary conflicts of interest.

People deserve objective advice without any hidden fees, which is why we choose to operate on a fee-only basis.

Do you offer hourly or one-time planning?

The short answer is no.

We do our best work for clients who want an ongoing relationship with an advisor who can help them make adjustments along the way and keep on track toward their goals.

If you need help finding an advisor who works on an hourly or one-time basis, we’re happy to connect you with someone.

How are you different than other financial advisors?

We specialize in working with physicians and understand your unique financial planning needs.

We limit the number of new clients we take on to make sure you’re not just a number. You’ll work with the same advisors from day one through the duration of our relationship.

We simplify your life. We don’t just offer suggestions and then have you implement them by yourself. We’re with you every step of the way, from updating your employer benefits together to connecting you with other professionals, like an accountant or estate attorney.

Why should I consider hiring MD Wealth Management?

Let’s first start with why you shouldn’t hire us. If you’re looking for an advisor who picks stocks or tries to “beat the market,” we aren’t for you. Why? Because we focus on what we can control. Speculating about what the stock market will do in the short-term, or guessing what interest rates will do next, are not things we can control.

However, we are a good fit if you want an advisor who:

  • You trust
  • Understands your unique situation
  • Has the expertise to help manage and optimize all aspects of your financial life

Any good partnership starts with trust. That's why instead of just telling you how we can help, we prefer to show you how we can help and what it would look like to work together before you ever pay us a dollar. There are no surprises from our first conversation through the duration of working together.
